2007 – Première participation à un festival international, le  Kunstenfestivaldesarts de Bruxelles, avec Cinq jours en mars
2007 – Prix Oe Kenzaburo pour son roman “The End of the Special Time We Were Allowed”
2011 – Prix de la critique de l’Association québécoise des critiques de théâtre  pour  “Hot Pepper, Air Conditioner, and the Farewell Speech”, Montréal, Canada
 2019/2020 – Collaboration avec l’artiste Teppei Kaneuji, production d’ “Eraser Mountain” à KYOTO EXPERIMENT 2019 et de “Eraser Forest” au Musée d’Art Contemporain du 21e siècle de Kanazawa
2021 – première de  “Unfulfilled Ghost and Monster – ZAHA / TSURUGA” (KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre),  Prix Yomiuri de Littérature, catégorie Théâtre/Scénario. Cette pièce utilize la structure narrative du no. Elle a aussi remporté le Tsuruya Namboku Drama Award
2022 – Yomiuri Theater Awards Special Prize pour, “Pratthana – A Portrait of Possession,” adaptation d’un roman contemporain thai, avec des acteurs thailandais.
2025 – Nommé directeur artistique du Théâtre Métropolitain de Tokyo
2025 – Création de Dance Juror’s Dance, théâtre chorégraphique théâtralisé
